The coffeemaker was cleaned (I used it several times a day) and ready for the next use.And a few strategic lights were turned on throughout the suite plus privacy drapes were drawn. At turndown service, a bottle of water was placed on the nightstand next to the bed, along with a sweet treat.And there was a chilled bottle of water waiting in the cup holder. Each time I got in my car, the valet handed me the seatbelt in an unspoken reminder to drive safely. ![]() After the valet service parked my car for the first time, the attendant called me by name, as did the rest of the Montage staff during my entire stay.At Montage Kapalua Bay, it was as if the staff knew what I wanted before I did. Service with a smile (and they know my name) at the Montage Sunset Pool tumbles down the hill in a series of water features.Īnticipating guests’ needs is a hallmark of exemplary personal service. But it was the anticipation of my every need that impressed me the most. Sure, it’s a gorgeous property offering 50 luxury suites (available in two and three bedroom units) with the largest balconies that I’ve ever seen. It’s the little things that stand out for me when I think of my stay at Montage Kapalua Bay. Sadly Montage haven't got it together yet and if you are looking for a top end experience you won't find it here, I wouldn't waste the money or travel time returning.Romantic accommodations in a quiet, scenic setting with unassuming personal service is my kind of luxury travel experience. We had several things not working in the room all of which should be regularly checked and clearly were not. The service is ok, the staff polite and friendly but not sharp which is what you deserve and should expect for these prices.They are mostly new to the business it would appear. You feel the interior designers were given a 4 star brief, no wow factor or individual touches or real theme. The rooms are well sized spacious and comfortable but like the building design are plain. It has a small beach next to the resort but this is public, busy and many locals use it. Rather bland and from a distance you might mistake it for an office complex. The resort is situated nicely with some white water ocean views however the architecture lacks sensitivity and detail. Montage Hotels aspire to compete with the Four Seasons and Ritz although they are still a young company with only 5 hotels. Having stayed at the Montage Deer Valley we thought we would try Montage in Maui.
